Welcome
To Troop 736's News

This summer was a busy one for Troop 736. We had more than 60 boys from
the Troop attend one or more camps this summer. In June, we attended
camp at Quivira Scout Ranch. We had a great week that included an outpost
camp one night where the Scouts canoed across the lake and spent the
night. The gateway to our campsite was outstanding. Our older Scouts
spent the afternoons teaching our younger Scouts scout skills required
for advancement to Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. And, at
the closing campfire, our Troop was presented with the Best in Camp and
Best Camp Gadgets Awards for 2007. A small contingency traveled to QSR
the first week in July – when the camp became accessible again
after the flood – and had a great week as well. Lots of merit badges
and rank advancements have been awarded to our Scouts as a result. In
July, we had a group attend a week of camp at Camp Alexander in Colorado
where they completed more merit badge work. Another group went backpacking
through the Packard High Adventure Base in Colorado. Their trek included
hiking to the summit of several 14ers, and they earned the 50-Miler Award
along the way. In addition, we had two crews go to Philmont and spend
two weeks in the backcountry. Everyone came home safe and sound, and
a great time was had by all.
