Troop
Camping
Troop
736 camps monthly with few exceptions. We always camp the third
weekend of the month.
We typically leave on a Friday evening and
return on Sunday around noon. We usually leave from the parking
lot of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. All Scouts should arrive
30 minutes prior to departure time to assist in the packing of
their Patrol’s gear (tents, dining flies, patrol boxes, stoves,
dutch ovens, food coolers, etc.) into the Troop trailer. In addition,
this allows time for last minute permission
slips, health forms,
etc. to be signed by parents, if necessary.
We do not usually stop
for a meal on Friday evening on the drive out to camp, so Scouts
should eat prior to arriving or bring a sack lunch supper to be
eaten on the way.
All Scouts are expected to travel from the church
to the camp together and travel from the camp back to the church
together. This is to ensure that all Scouts participate in the
setting up and taking down of their campsites and do their part
to help with the cleaning and/or drying out of patrol equipment
that is checked out to the Scouts upon return to the church.
For
insurance reasons, the Class A uniform is required to be worn by
all Scouts and Leaders (without exception) when traveling to and
from camp.
